Grampa
Got a report today of one of my tenants in a ground floor flat getting free electricity through an ingenious way that no one would ever notice. An extension lead through the letter box and plugged into the plug socket in the communal hallway. A future master criminal at work what do you think. Before you ask Richlist, yes he is on Housing Benefit. Hands up on that one.
Carryon Regardless
Borrow a 1,000v Megger, connect to live and nuetral of the extensions plug and give him a little more free energy. It'll fry his electronics for sure. By the time he realises somethings amiss the extension plugged back in and no body is around.
Simon Dewsberry
What are hall sockets used for normally ? Is it feasable to put an inline lockable switch on this circuit ?
Richlist
What are hall sockets used for normally ? They are normally used to power the vacuum cleaners of the people who look after the common areas of flats. Often they are located in locked cupboards specifically to avoid this scenario. The cost of the electricity used is usually shared equally amongst the leaseholders of the blocks and are included in the service charges/ accounts.
