landlord65
A prospective tenant for my property pulled out after giving the Agent a moving in date and paying the Agent 6wks deposit and the first months rent - about £1730! I'd signed the contract but the prospective tenant hadn't. Can anyone advise me of what the prospective tenant would be likely to loose for the wasted time? Thanks for looking. Richlist
Nothing. Not worth the effort to follow up. Put your effort into finding a suitable replacement tenant.
Melboy
Nothing whatsoever. Recent court case where this happened and the LA had to repay the total sum of money back to the prospective tenant minus reasonable LA admin costs. The LA cannot hold the deposit or rent in advance money as a forfeit. You as the landlord are entitled to nothing. Move on and concentrate on finding your new tenant. Grampa
It should be clearly laid out in writing and signed by both parties what the costs (reasonable) will be if xyz happens.
