Mortitia
I see this is being rolled out in the W. Midlands first - needs to be! I expect Leicester will be next. Personally I would not let to anyone without seeing passport etc and have gone on like that for some years now. In that article was a link to Landlord Registration - another money making scheme for local authorities just around the corner.

Carryon Regardless
Surely a failed credit check would weed them out anyway.
Melboy
As always and proved a thousand times in the past it is the authorities failing to make the necessary checks on illegal immigrants in the UK and if they do find them these illegals escape and slip under the radar or hire a human rights lawyer at great cost to the taxpayer to fight their case which has been known to go on for up to 10 years in some cases. It is the open border's that are the problem in the UK where illegal immigrants can pour into the country unchecked and not turned away at the point of entry as they do in the USA and other Countries. "Dodgy Dave" has failed to live up to his election promise of restricting immigration and the whole problem is going to get a whole lot worse over the next 5 years. This is a report of EU Citizens who are permitted to come here. It is estmated we have up to 3 million illegals living here in the UK. Up to one million more Poles are considering moving to the UK to look for work during the next 12 months. The vast majority are young men aged under 35 who are dissatisfied with wage rates in their homeland, according to a new survey. There are thought to be at least 500,000 Polish-born people already living in the UK, and the survey suggests that number will continue to rise since relatively few of them are returning home. Richlist
We (the UK) can't do anything about people from EU member states coming to the UK. The majority coming here are not illegal immigrants. They have every right under current legislation to be here just as the hundreds of thousands of UK citizens have a right to be living &/or working in Spain & France etc. Poland is part of the EU so we can't do anything about it until Cameron gets the EU rules changed or UKIP is running the country. Melboy
Last year Britain allowed 1500 economic World immigrants in Calais to come to the UK on the strict understanding that the French tightened up the camps at Calais. This was promised by the French. At the last count in October there were just over 1000 illegal immigrants standing in Calais waiting to come here with no action being taken by the French. Britain sends out the wrong signals every time to the World population in saying come to Britain we will look after you. 30,000 economic migrants have crossed the sea from Libiya in 3 years to get to Europe through Italy. italy has been sending them onto France and France is looking to send them all to us. Where does this madness end?
Carryon Regardless
I saw an interview some time ago with the French Mayor who stated that this was of our own doing as we make it just too attractive to come here.
Richlist
Yes I would agree with the French.....the UK does make it far too attractive. Seems the weekend national press agree with that as well.....see Sunday Mail for a full breakdown.
