Paying Contractors CASH

In my many years of business experience it is more likely the customers who ask for a "cash job price" and who can blame them when £20 of their taxed income in every £100 goes straight to the treasury.

We do not do this I have to add because you never know whether the customer is setting you up for reporting to HMRC and to be fair we do lose the odd job or two to other's who are not VAT registered and there are plenty of those around I can tell you.

HMRC should tackle the traveller's and other's who tour the Country carrying out often badly carried out work for cash only.

When I built my own house 20 years ago we could claim all the VAT paid for materials & labour back from the taxman as a lump sum on completion of the build....it came in very handy. I don't know if you can still do that.
