nataliejayne
Hello everyone, I had a whole property painted before tenants moved in about 8 months ago. And after conducting an inspection, i noticed a lot of black scuff marks in all of the rooms on the walls, and lots of dirty fingerprints etc (around doors and lightswitches). When they leave will they have to pay to have this painted? Or does it count as general wear and tear? Thank you
Melboy
Finger prints and scuff marks will normally just wipe away so I would invite the tenant to do so. I don't think you will be able to charge for a complete paint job though. Suggesting it and getting payment for it is a different matter.
Mortitia
Are you new to being a landlord? You need to get used to divorcing yourself from your immaculately presented property once it is let. I would assess the damage once they have left - and see what can be cleaned off.
Richlist
I would assess the damage once they have left - and see what can be cleaned off. I wouldn't......I'd be doing regular 3 monthly inspections, informing the tenants if they weren't looking after the property correctly, issuing a note of what needs rectifying and execting them to do it.
