Richlist
Interesting post that gives an insight into sources and costs for referencing: http://boards.fool.co.uk/i-use-homelet-just-because-i-always-have-carry-12428882.aspx?sort=threaded
Grampa
I know referencing costs that tenants get charged by agent is a major issue but it isn't just the costs for ccj's, bankruptcy etc there is the added cost for land registry checks (i know its only 4 quid) writing to previous landlords, employers, banks etc. It doesn't sound a lot but is quite time consuming and has to be done right. I think its outrageous what some agencies charge and must be hard to justify fee's that run into the 100's. We charge a flat of £90 and when I did a survey of other local agents ours was the lowest. Richlist
Just to give you a comparison....I believe my agents charge £100 for one person & £120 if there are two people.....but like you they do usually try to undercut the competition. Grampa
It is also a sign of commitment by the tenant when they have paid a fee.
