Snaggy Posted March 18, 2018 Report Posted March 18, 2018 I have just purchased the freehold inteterest forr two flats I own. Can I put the cost fotward as an epense for tax purposes?
Richlist Posted March 18, 2018 Report Posted March 18, 2018 You need specialist tax advice. I don't know the answer but logically i don't see how the cost of the freeholds can be deductable against IT....any more than the cost of buying another property would be deductable. I suspect there may be an allowance against CGT and you may be able to offset legal/ professional fees. Talk to an accountant who specialises in property.
Melboy Posted March 19, 2018 Report Posted March 19, 2018 I would say no as this type of expense is normally only allowable against CGT when you come to sell. As Richlist says talk to an accountant who will confirm and answer your question one way or the other.
