Unoccupied Property Insurance

Hi, can anyone recommend an Insurance Company that specialises in insuring unoccupied properties. I have a flat that is going to be unoccupied for at least 3mths. As soon as I mention it is freehold and part of a 4 block they won't touch it for some reason. Tried Towergate which are one of the biggest in this field but no joy unless all 4 properties sign up. That's not going to happen as the tenants have their own insurance and they are not empty anyway. Thanks, Barry

I have no recommendation.

Although your post is a bit light on detail in this situation i always say talk to a broker as they have access to products often not available on the open market.

Alternatively take a look at property118.com.....i suspect they have a link to someone offering what you need.

You have no option but to speak to a broker, none of the online Quotes will let you proceed after wasting half an hour filling in a form. Powergate are a broker and they tried 3 insurers but couldn't get a quote. The flat is going to be sold but will be empty for about 3 mths.

Insuring a flat separately is not ideal and I would always recommend insuring the block as a whole where at all possible. Not only does it make claims a lot easier to be handled (imagine 4 different insurers trying to get together to arrange the rebuilding or repair of a property that has had a large incident), it will probably result in a lower premium to pay each.

There are specialists that can help for those where this is not possible. Try Ashburnham Insurance and their Unoccupied Property Insurance options.
