I'm a landlord and advertise privately but I always direct suitable applicants thru my lettings agent. Lettings Agents give tenants more of a guarantee that documentation is correct and legal requirements will be met. fionaf Posted May 28, 2016 Report Share Posted May 28, 2016 Openrent advertise properties from private landlords and there are no fees for the tenant. Their properties do also end up on Rightmove etc so not all Rightmove properties are agency ones. Also be careful about being so insistent on renting from a private landlord. It gets alarm bells ringing. Not saying this is the case with you but I have known some tenants target new private landlords who don't use an agent and then end up fleecing them. That isn't necessarily a recommendation to landlords to use an agent - we don't for example - but for a rookie landlord it is a dangerous landscape out there if you haven't done your research and don't act on it.
