Richlist
This tax year landlords are unable to claim the costs of replacement items such as free standing cookers in unfurnished accommodation.Am I right in assuming that we can still claim the cost of professional oven cleaning as a legitimate expense ? Melboy
I didn't know that RL. Why only free standing cooker's? What about built-in ones? Repairs? and as you say cleaning of ovens.
Richlist
Free standing cookers form part of the contents and replacements can no longer be claimed. Built in cookers, along with any built in appliances, are considered to be part of the building and these replacements can be claimed.I beleive that any repairs to items that form part of the contents or the building can still be claimed including oven cleaning.......but I'm looking for confirmation of that. Richlist
Many thanks.......it doesn't mention repairs so I'll apply logic and common sense & assume an oven clean is an allowable expense and will claim it on my tax return.
