Just wanted to check if the same rules apply for Water service charges as for gas & electricity. IE: Do I let United Utilities know the tenants details so they can be billed direct or do I have to pay the water rates and include it in rent (Property is not on a meter). Thanks. Trenners Posted August 8, 2006 Report Share Posted August 8, 2006 Hi Fenella, Water charges are usually treated the same as other utility charges - ie: the tenants responsibility. Make sure the tenancy agreement states that all utilities are the tenants responsibility and then simply inform the utility companies when the tenant moves in (with opening meter readings where appropriate).
