Frogman
Hi, Can anyone confirm that to supply a false reference is a criminal offence? I have recently discovered that some tenants that I evicted had actually supplied a fraudulent reference. It was signed by the mother of one of the tenants (in her maiden name so as to allay any suspicion. She was pretending to be a previous landlady and described them as perfect tenants.......needless to say they weren't. She also acted as witness to the tenancy agreement but chose to sign this in her married name. Although they have now been evicted there is still ongoing legal proceedings relating to the tenancy and it would be useful to know whether any offence has been committed here. Many Thanks
Melboy
It probably is a criminal offence to do what these people have done but in pursuing it it will probably cost more in legal fee's than it is actually worth. However, on the positive side, if you are currently taking legal action against them it will certainly strengthen your case by showing what a bunch of lying cheats you have had to deal with. Frogman
I think it probably is as well but I'm hoping someone might confirm it for me. You're right about them being lying cheats Melboy and yes, I'm hoping this evidence will strengthen my case against them.
