deposit

Recommended Posts

my son entered an assured shorthold tenancy agreement some time ago and paid a deposit of £1200. the six month period of the tenancy came and went a couple of years ago. He got a noitifcation from the scheme it was secured but no prescribed info. from landord or agent.

Should the deposit have been unsecured at the end of the 6 month period of the tenancy agreement and then resecured?

The landlord is now making unreasonable deductions. Does he have any grounds for redress?

regards

robert

The deposit remains 'protected' for the duration of the tenancy, not just the 'fixed' term.

The T has the right to reclaim the deposit, if the LL makes a claim on the deposit there are scheme procedures to resolve any disagreement.

An Enet search may well help to find the answers you look for as to how to reclaim from the applicable scheme.
