josie.shantonas
I am renting a house in London to 4 students from Eire who have a guarantor based in Eire. Is this going to work with the standard assured shorthold tenancy agreement? Will I still have the same protection and be able to get the guarantor to pay any appropriate shortfalls? Mortitia
With Eire being part of the EEC it should but you will need to credit reference the guarantor to make sure they are suitable. I think I would be likely to take an extra large deposit or look for other tenants with less complications. Students away from home + alcohol + Irish = big problems And before anyone says I am being racist please note that I am of Irish decent myself . Melboy
Well I'm not of Irish decent but of Welsh decent It's only the English that get a hang up over what is considered to be rascist comment about the Irish. I would be very wary of accepting an Irish guarantor so yer pays yer money and you take yer choice Fulwell! Personally? not for me thanks. Go with Mortitia's comments....larger deposit or different tenants etc. Mel.
