shan
hi everyone i have given my tenant 2 months notice (he's on a periodic tenancy) because he has been messing me around with the rent for sometime, now i month in arrears. i need to do some maintenance work on the outside of the property, just wondered if i am within my rights to get on with the work while he is waiting to move out, or would this be considered as harasment
Melboy
Normally outside work is carried out with the agreement of the Tenant. If it is emergency work ie leaking roof, guttering etc. then you can proceed with a letter to your Tenant that repair work will start asap to protect your property from damage. If it's not urgent then let the tenant leave and you can proceed in peace and quiet with no hassle to yourself. Mel.
Mortitia
Agree with the above. Don't give difficult tenants any reason to come back at you for harassment since you have asked him to leave. Just let him go quietly then get on with the work. Peace all round. Mortitia
