Barbara031055
We had a tenant who moved in on 15th May 2007. He moved out on 30th Feb 2009. Leaving quite a lot of lage but valuable items behind. (and one hell of a mess! All floors and carpets were damaged). We had to store his stuff (at our expense). But up 'til now he hasn't collected any of it. At what stage can I dispose of his stuff?
Melboy
You can dispose of his goods right now. If you have made all efforts to contact him and he has failed to respond then you can legally dispose of these things. 28days is the norm. Keep your storage receipts though. Landlords are not a charity and it is up to the Tenant to ensure that their goods are removed from a vacated property after a reasonable amount of time. Mel. Stargazer
Sounds like you were lucky My last tenants left nothing but rubbish and trashed the place - it cost over £400 just to get the house and garden cleared. At least the TDS didn't quibble over returning their entire deposit to me...
