TimM
It came as a bit of a shock to find out that I was responsible for the Council Tax payment on the changeover of tenants on one of my lets for the void period. I only found out when challenging the payment. Apparently this is now allowed as changes under the operation that Councils are allowed to make. I just wonder how many local authorities throughout the Country have taken this step and not even allowed at least a two week grace period, as many of you know how hard it is to arrange back to back tenancy agreements? South Gloucestershire Council is one for the list, so beware.
Melboy
As from April 1st 2013 the new rules came in. Swindon Borough Council operate the same "no void" payment period now for landlords. Not all bad news as it is tax deductable on your tax return.
