liz
Hi, As a newcomer to the 'joys' of BTL ownership, please can you knowledgeable guys advise me if I can claim back the VAT I've paid on some plumbing work I had to have done. I'm keeping all receipts and I'm confident that the net figure (new boiler pump) is claimable back, but what about the VAt element, and I guess that goes for other charges with VAT on to such as the new bathroom I've bought from B&Q to be fitted shortly? thanks Liz
Melboy
Sorry Liz you cannot claim the VAT back. You can claim tax relief on the work carried out though.
plym77
Hi Liz Melboy is right, and to clarify it is the VAT-inclusive figure that you would claim as an expense against the rental income. Sherena
