Do we sign the tenant's agreement and do the tenants pay the deposit and rent in advance or do we wait until day their contract begins in 4 weeks? As you will gather I am new to letting property! SPEEDTWIN Posted August 19, 2006 Report Share Posted August 19, 2006 Take a deposit now give a reciept signed by yourself and the tenant keep copy for yourself. if you get the AST filled out for the date you want it to start but the AST dated from now and siged by all parties its legally binding so if they pull out there is no reason why you can`t keep their deposit.
