Splitting the income tax

Hi,

I'm hopefully soon to be letting my new flat and I need a bit of tax guidance. I'm due to get married next September and I believe that I can assign half the rent to my wife. She is currently on the 20% and I'm on the 40% band. Do I need to transfer half the property to her somehow in order to do this, or can it stay soley in my name? If I do need to transfer half, would it make sense to do it now, rather than wait (it'll be pretty obvious it's purely to avoid tax if I wait). Is it a straightforward situation or should I be looking to find the services of a tax expert?
