HMRC Fraudulent Rebate Emails!

A message to my fellow RL users!

A number of our clients have received emails from 'so-called HM Revenue & Customs' stating that they are due a rebate and to complete their band details online. You click the link and it takes you to a site which looks like HMRC's (you can search etc) - but it isn't

THESE ARE FAKES - DO NOT COMPLETE THE BANK DETAILS if you receive one!!

See below for a sample of one of the emails that is circulating and in fact this is one of the 'poorer imitations':

If you receive one of these emails, please forward it to:

phishing@hmrc.gsi.gov.uk

....just be aware

Email example:

After the last annual calculations of your fiscal activity we have

determined that you are eligible to receive a tax refund of £2,542.55

Please submit the tax refund request and allow us 2-3 days in order to

process it.

A refund can be delayed for a variety of reasons. For example

submitting invalid records or applying after the deadline. To access the form for

your tax refund, please click here
