A number of our clients have received emails from 'so-called HM Revenue & Customs' stating that they are due a rebate and to complete their band details online. You click the link and it takes you to a site which looks like HMRC's (you can search etc) - but it isn't THESE ARE FAKES - DO NOT COMPLETE THE BANK DETAILS if you receive one!! See below for a sample of one of the emails that is circulating and in fact this is one of the 'poorer imitations': If you receive one of these emails, please forward it to: phishing@hmrc.gsi.gov.uk ....just be aware Regards Sherena Glanton CTA Senior Tax Consultant sherena.glanton@target-accountants.com Email example: After the last annual calculations of your fiscal activity we have determined that you are eligible to receive a tax refund of £2,542.55 Please submit the tax refund request and allow us 2-3 days in order to process it.
