odecar
Interested in some of the views regarding BTL in Scotland as while I'm seeing the prices in certain places are not as high as England. Rents look ok but my concern is whether the legal system is different enough to make it a nightmare. Appreciate any comments. thanks
lettinginscotland
The Scottish legal system is indeed different, but in some ways fairer / easier than the English system. On the house purchase front, much less gazumping and less problems with chains (I suppose because you have to legally commit to buy) goes on. Scots Housing Law is also different with respect to Renting - AST has Scotish variations but briadly similar to England (though variations in wording) + the Matrimonial act Scotland comes into force. Hope this helps. www.scottishlaw.org.uk might give pointers in the right direction legally. Letting-in-Scotland.
