Luther
I've read that if you buy an older house in some countries you can end up paying any local property taxes the previous owner has 'forgotten' to pay. Can anybody tell me if this applies in Slovenia? I have found a possible place to buy there. The estate agent says there are no problems but it all seems a bit too good (cheap) to be true. Apart from property taxes are there any other possible pitfalls I should watch out for?
odecar
No you will only be liable for those from date of purchase. Oops sorry didn't read post properly assummed it was UK. Best way is to seek local legal advice.
