tony009
Hi All. I know there is an argument that if you have a good tenant then resist increasing rent, but if you have or need to then by how much per annum? Would it be a percentage? and is there a limit to the increase that is deemed as 'fair'? Many thanks for any advice. T.
Trenners
Hi Tony, If you must increase the rent - and possibly cause your tenant to serve notice and thereby incur a void period and additional administration costs to create a new tenancy - then I would suggest the "annual inflation rate" would be fair. So - between 2% - 3% increase might be jusitifyable. Not sure if it is worth the risk of losing a tenant for the sake of a few extra quid each month though !
