Lease Extension

I have one rental property with 82 years left on the lease - I have asked the freeholder if it is possible to extend and he has offered 150 yrs for £2,875.00

Am I being paranoid in trying to extend the lease and if not is this offer a good one.

I am on a fixed mtg rate and cannot come out of the mortgage until the lease hits 79 years 6 months - will I have problems selling with this period left on the lease

Hoping someone can help me !!!!!

Cheers

I have read about leasing problems before on another website, similar to what you are saying.

The opinions were, as I remember, most people and Solicitors are looking for at least 99 years on a lease when re-selling leasehold property and for what you are paying for a 150 year lease it would be good value because my own Aunt was going to be charged £2000 to bring her lease up from 80years to 99 years.

You may need to seek independent legal advice just to settle your own mind on the subject.
